The role
We are looking for an Accounting and Tax Associate to handle bookkeeping, tax filings and reporting for our clients' foreign-invested enterprises in mainland China. You will work with our Shanghai administration team and report to colleagues and clients abroad in English.
Key responsibilities
- Keep the books for a portfolio of foreign-invested enterprises under China Accounting Standards.
- Prepare and file monthly and quarterly VAT, Corporate Income Tax and other local tax returns.
- Prepare the annual Corporate Income Tax reconciliation and support the statutory audit.
- Issue, collect and check fapiao and keep supporting documents in order.
- Prepare individual income tax filings for employees, with the administration team.
- Support profit repatriation and foreign currency payment steps with banks.
- Prepare monthly management reports in English for clients and group colleagues.
- Keep client files complete and ready for review.
Requirements
- Degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
- At least two years of accounting and tax experience in Shanghai, ideally in an accounting firm or corporate service provider.
- Good knowledge of China Accounting Standards, VAT, Corporate Income Tax and fapiao rules.
- Hands-on experience with the electronic tax bureau and local accounting software (Kingdee, Yonyou or similar).
- Careful, organised and comfortable with monthly deadlines.
- Right to work in mainland China.
Nice to have
- ACCA, CICPA or progress towards one of them.
- Experience with WFOE clients and their foreign parent companies.
- Knowledge of IFRS reporting packs.
Languages
Native or fluent Mandarin and good working English (written and spoken) are required.
